Thankful - Leslie Berner November 13, 2018 07:00

Hi! It's Leslie on the blog today.
My challenge this week is to make a layout to do with something that I'm thankful for. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving, but I have plenty to be thankful for in my life, so it was not difficult for me to think of something to scrap.
I chose two pictures of me and my husband. The first picture is of us sitting on a bench that day we got married, 30 April 2007 and the second photo is of us trying to recreate the first picture, we took that second picture 4 November 2018. And so I feel I have 11 and a half years of marriage I am very thankful for.
I used the Rose Cluster cut file.
I wanted to do some stitching so I altered the cut file to a stitch file. This took a bit of time, but it was so worth it in the end! Here is a picture of what it looked like after I had completed the alteration. Please excuse the bad quality of the photo. I also flipped the image horizontally.
I chain stitched with white tread along the holes my silhouette made, and I decided to use all 6 strands of thread to give the stitched flower lots of texture and interest.
Here is a close up of the stitched bits.
I decided to use the beautiful Willow lane collection from Crate Paper. I fussy cut out the gold flowers form the vellum sheet and the colored flowers from one of the patterned papers from the 12x12 paper pad. The small alphas are Thickers from the Pink Paislee and the die cut that says "All things grow with love" is from the Flourish collection.
Here are some more close ups.
Here is the final layout.
I hope that you find that you can do a lot with cut files, you can use them as stencils, as layering, and can convert the cut file to a stitch file!!
