This Glow September 30, 2016 07:00

Hello Just Nick friends!  I've got a fun layout to share with you today using the Up in the Air cut file, that is new in the shop for September.

At times I can be quite a literal scrapper.  Typically each item I include or design choice I make, needs to have a purpose on my page.  I like for my elements to tie into the theme of the photos or story I'm trying to tell.  With that said, the adorable hot air balloons from the Up in the Air file, reminded me that I had yet to scrapbook pictures from a balloon glow festival my family and I attended.

I initially wanted to include all of the adorable balloon designs included in the file, but settled on three, as I find more balance in using an odd number of elements.

I sized each of the balloons at a decreasing size, so when placed on the page they might look as if they were at different depths in the sky.

Each balloon was cut from white cardstock and backed with a multitude of patterns and colors. This ensures that my customized page pieces coordinate with the hot air balloons in my photos and provide nice contrast against the sky scene background paper.

While I used this cut file in a very literal sense, I can see so many more uses for this design.  I think my next project with it, might involve turning some of those balloons into shaker elements.

Thanks for joining me on the blog today!  Hope you make some time this weekend to get crafty!
