Word themed Cards | Jaclyn Rench January 06, 2017 07:00

Hi Just Nick friends!  I hope you have been enjoying all of the creative ways the design team has been working words into their projects this week.  I used the theme to challenge myself to create a couple of cards with a focus on the text.

The obvious choice for me, would have been to default to the slew of great card sentiment designs available in the Just Nick store.  However, since I was looking for a bit of a challenge, I instead, scanned my library for some page title designs that could easily double as my card's greeting.

My search quickly landed me on the Friends Become cut file.

This title piece makes such a statement on it's own, with it's placement of words and combination of fonts, that a simple stamped, embossed and watercolored background are all that is needed to make a big impact.

I cut a second version of the title out of kraft cardstock, which creates a subtle shadow, to ensure the text is set apart from the bold backdrop.

I decided to mix up the style of this next card and go for something a little more cute.  The You make my heart smile design, lent itself to a handful of smiling hearts, to act as a backdrop to the card's sentiment.

Cutting the word 'heart' out of pink cardstock and layering it atop the original cut design, makes it the center of attention.

If you've downloaded any of Nicole's awesome page title designs, I hope this will inspire you to give them a second go round.  Perhaps this time, they will find a home on a smaller, card-sized canvas!
